My love of Jack Daniels started back in December 1991 while a mate and I were on holiday at a camp site in Otautu Bay in the Coromandel. We met this American while on holiday and told him to come and stay with us. He had been sent to New Zealand to sort things out. Jason wore a cowboy hat and his accent was a hit with the ladies.
On the first night he pulls out a bottle of Jack Daniels Black Label, that is when I first fell in love with Old No7. Over the next 3 weeks a great friendship was forged over many litres of this smooth sippin sour mash. And over the years many more litres have been consumed up at Otautu Bay.
Jason went back to the US and have since lost touch so if you come across this site buddy, drop me an email.
From then on any Jack Daniels items I could get my hands on fast became part of my collection. My next purchase was a tin with a 700ml bottle and 2 glasses and two 125 Anniversary Decanters. On the night of my graduation I cracked one of them and the other was to be opened on the birth of my first child. Well I have just had the birth of my first child and that bottle has stayed sealed. Too valuable now!
That's how it all started. I want this website to bring collectors in New Zealand together to share the history and love of collecting, and to connect to the other collectors from around the world so all of our collections grow.
You all take care now.
